Live Your Best Life!

It seems like we’ve been hearing a lot of our girlfriends talking about changes they’ve made to improve their quality of life. Living a better, more holistic life is something many of us aspire to but are often deterred because of late nights at the office, early mornings doing work at home and trying to find ways to fit everything else in! We’ve asked a few of our friends and listed out the easiest ways that we think you can elevate and enhance your life, while still making it to the office on time!

Eating Right

It’s amazing how much we neglect our bodies. We eat badly, don’t sleep enough, put ourselves through physical stress and allow emotional problems to start reflecting on our bodies. Working eight to nine hour days means that when you get home, the last thing you want to do is think about cooking a healthy dinner. You will be surprised at how easily you can start introducing fresh, wholesome food into your life. You are what you eat so it’s important not to be a vada pao or box of chicken nuggets. The perils of fast food could not be further documented and we are convinced that the combination of refined, processed and artificial foods is what is driving up doctor bills around the world.

Figure out a way to do some level of meal prep on the weekend so that you are sorted for at least a few meals during the week. This could mean marinating chicken on Monday morning that can then last you for two days, asking your maid to chop up some veggies which you can stir fry when you get home and looking at healthier options when ordering food. Eating better definitely makes you feel better and we can’t encourage you to start thinking about what you put into your body enough.

Drinking Water

Did you know that living in India, the idea of drinking only 2 litres of water a day is pretty much hearsay? Doctors often recommend drinking up to 4 litres of water for those who live in hot countries. Not having enough water can lead to a host of health problems including dull skin, kidney problems and digestive issues. Make it part of your daily routine to have at least 10 glasses of water a day. You can do this by drinking a litre when you wake up and keeping a litre water bottle handy at all times of day. Our bodies are made of 70% water so feed your soul and drink up!

De-Clutter Your Life

We have all heard the saying that making your bed in the morning can make you more productive during the day. Imagine coming home to a clean, organized space every night or sitting in a cabin without 100s of loose papers flying around. Cleaning up the space around you is an easy way to feel more organized and fool yourself into becoming more productive. We recommend you tackle one room a day or week, depending on how messy you are. This could mean throwing out all those old tubes of lipstick and mascara from your make-up kit, checking the expiry dates on all your bathroom essentials, cleaning out your closet and donating your old clothes and spending a day going through each item in your fridge. We promise you that the less space you make for clutter, the more space you have for yourself!

Get into the habit of spending 20 minutes a night reading a few pages of a book every night or checking the news online first thing in the morning. Also make a list of blogs and websites that you like and do a weekly skim through them to help keep you abreast with the things you are interested in. Being well-read is an amazing tool that will help you in every aspect of your life from family dinners to lunches with friends to chats with your partner. Having this huge repertoire of information will not only make you more interesting but will also make your life more interesting!

By making small, incremental changes in our daily routines, it’s possible to see huge results. Tell us about any life hacks that you’ve found to be helpful in making you more productive and happier!
